Ochre trellis wallpaper, a teal cornice and a dark trestle table, in a dining room built for long dinners.
The dining room carries an ochre trellis wallpaper up to a teal-green crown moulding, which is the decision the rest of the room answers to. A brass chandelier hangs over a dark wood trestle table, with linen-backed nailhead chairs along the sides and carved armchairs in a dark floral tapestry at the ends.
Mixing two chair styles at one table is deliberate. It keeps a formal room from reading as a set, and it gives the ends of the table the weight they need under a ceiling this tall.
The entry and living room pick up the same palette at lower volume, so the three spaces read as one house rather than three schemes that happen to share a floor.
